Dear Masters
study sessions
a project since 2017
curated by the tardito/rendina company
A dedication and a thank you to those masters who, through their personal poetic vision and artistic exploration, have always persevered in their calling to explore the nature of being and have become messengers of a noble tradition.
Dear Masters was launched in 2017 to offer dancers, actors, and anyone interested in theater, dance, or meditation a series of seminars led by internationally renowned masters in the artistic and spiritual realms, recognized for their qualities of awareness, honesty, and courage.
The project revolves around humanitas, that Latin concept of wholeness centered on what it means to be human—without distinction—including care, culture, dedication, and the perception of beauty.
Dear masters, a precious opportunity for those who feel called to be bearers of “humanity” through their physical, emotional, and psychic faculties. It is a collective invitation to grasp the complex workings of the human being, a crossroads of forces invisible to the naked eye, yet ready to reveal themselves through impartial observation and dedication.
Guidelines
* The body – a profound inspiration to encounter the body as a fundamental space for listening and expression, for revelation, as a bearer of memories, a vessel of truths beyond words, and a gateway to a (new) awareness that is a source of inspiration and creativity. The body that offers itself to the gaze and becomes an instrument of community and sharing, leaping onto the wagon of the imagination to become a possible vision of freedom and shared participation. The body that becomes poetry.
* Integration across the arts – allowing oneself to flow between various arts and disciplines and permitting one form of knowledge to spill over into another grants us the gift of co-presence. The permeability between the arts takes on the value of a fruitful dialogue, essential for broadening awareness of one’s own artistic journey and for discovering other languages and expressive tools that the actor/dancer can integrate or let go of. In today’s world, the “contemporary” is situated precisely in that space between the arts, in a fresh language that does not correspond to any specific art form.
* Meditation — an extraordinary tool for expanding consciousness, a journey toward knowledge and the development of human potential—aims to deepen understanding of oneself and others, as well as to create a space for growth in service to the community. Meditation supports and guides the actor/dancer on their path of training—an act of self-awareness.
